A Night of Fellowship and Charity: Parish Pig Roast Success

The Knights of Columbus Father Justin Cunningham Council recently hosted a parish pig roast in support of the Catholic students at the University of Virginia, affectionately known as the “Catholic Hoos.” What began as a simple effort to serve quickly became a powerful witness to Christian fellowship, sacrifice, and generosity.

From the earliest hours of the morning to well past midnight, dedicated volunteers gave their time and energy to ensure the success of the event. In a true spirit of fraternity, many hands made light work by preparing, cooking, and processing with joy. Even several of the students themselves remained late into the night, embodying the communal spirit that defines both parish life and authentic Catholic charity.

The evening was not without its challenges, including a late-night visit from local authorities and fire officials. Yet, through diligence and good order, all requirements were met, and the event continued without issue which was an encouraging reminder that perseverance and cooperation bear good fruit.

Most importantly, the pig roast successfully supported the mission of serving Catholic students at UVA, helping to strengthen their faith and sense of belonging. We are deeply grateful to our brother Knights and all who contributed their time, talent, and effort.

May the Lord bless all who labored so generously, and may He continue to foster unity, charity, and faith within our parish community!
